“Variety is the Spice of Life”
One of the great things about the Downtown Wildwood Farmers Market is that despite its relatively small venue, the market’s vendors and products are quite diverse. Case in point: Balic Winery. Managed by Ronald and Sandra, Balic Winery sells over 30?different wines, sparkling wines, and aperitifs, and all at?reasonable prices. All wines are 100%?natural and contain?no preservatives, which is what you expect at a farmers market.
I admit, I’m no wine connoisseur (beer, now that’s a different story). Discussing wines with me is like discussing literature with… a dog, maybe? The conversation tends to be?one-sided.?Happily,?Ronald and Sandra were extremely?friendly and patient with me, who, as previously mentioned, was playing the dog in this scenario?– woof!
Wine Basics 101
After spending about 20 minutes at the Balic Winery booth with my new friends, Ronald and Sandra, I now know words like, acetic, astringent, beery (I like that one!), and tannic, and how they apply to wine?– sort of. Unfortunately, it was 8 AM so I didn’t actually taste any of the wine, although I could have, as Balic Winery gives out free samples. I did, however, purchase a bottle of Pinot?Grigio which I gave as a present to my neighbor, who is a wine connoisseur (or lush, I’m not sure which). She assured me that the wine was “absolutely fantastic”.
