Spring has sprung! Or has it? Blustery, cold, cloudy days are the norm at this time of year and we’ve had no shortage of them! When walking my dog I have no less than 3 or 4 layers of clothing on so that I can take off or put back on whatever the changing temps call for.
While Mother Nature may still be in winter mode, Wildwood is certainly waking up from it’s long winter slumber. Large 18 wheelers are lumbering down our small side streets trying to find their way to one of the many boardwalk businesses that are slowly opening up to larger and larger crowds each weekend. Some of Morey’s work force has arrived and are getting trained to handle the busy summer crowds, which they’ll get a preview of on Easter Sunday.
Though many of our traffic lights are still blinking yellow, more and more cars seem to be on the road each week. A fact for which I have conflicting thoughts! On the one hand it heralds warmer days to come and on the other it just means longer drive times and possibly driving behind someone who seemingly has no idea where they are or where they are going!
You can hear the din of construction work as hotels and rooming houses begin their opening preparations for the 2017 season, which is rapidly approaching. I, for one, am happy to live in Wildwood when all this starts happening! Living here year-round I get to enjoy the peace and quiet in the dead of winter, but the anticipation of hot summer days on the beach and warm summer nights on the porch with friends is beginning to build! It won’t be long before we can break out our summer wardrobes and let Wildwood do what it does best, make summer fun!
