National Night Out - Wildwood Crest

The Borough of Wildwood Crest Police Department will host a fun-filled evening of free activities for the entire family as part of the National Night Out campaign. The event will be held at Centennial Park, located at Fern Road and Ocean Avenue, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Festivities will include DJ entertainment, food, games, prizes, giveaways and more for the entire family. Moon bounces, a face painter and a dunk tank will be included in the fun. Representatives from the Wildwood Crest Police Department, Fire Department, Ambulance Corps, Beach Patrol and Recreation Department, as well as a handful of Cape May County agencies, will all partake in the event. Line-up begins at 5:30 p.m., parade steps off at 6 p.m. SHARP and proceeds south on the Wildwoods Boardwalk to the Wildwoods sign at Rio Grande Avenue where group photos will be taken for each category. The parade then circles back to head north to the Convention Center, down the ramp and over to Fox Park where winners will be announced and a child-friendly event will take place.FREE to register. Wedding of the Sea

You are cordially invited to celebrate the Wedding of the Sea.The celebration will begin at St. Anns Church, 2900 Atlantic Ave.at 4 pm will be a prelude of musical selections performed by the NDDLM Music Ministry and accompanying orchestra. The vigil mass celebrating the Assumption of Mary into heaven follows at 4:30. Immediately following mass, the procession to the ocean will begin. Once at the waters edge, Wildwood lifeguards will take the bishop into the tide where he will bless the ocean by throwing a ring of flowers. A tradition started in Venice, Italy in the 1400s. A gold ring would be tossed into the ocean Marrying it to the land. This symbolic gesture shows the significance the ocean has on the land in all Shore towns. A union so very important today as it was then. All are welcome to celebrate!!

Mid-Atlantic Police & Fire Survivors Weekend

The Mid-Atlantic Police & Fire Survivor weekend is pleased to join with the Cape May County Police and Fire Emerald Society to welcome the survivor groups of the Mid-Altantic region to North Wildwood in support of the survivors of those police and fire personnel who have lost their lives in the service of others. Events are held at 2nd & Surf Avenues and at Lou Booth Amphitheater in North Wildwood. Festivities include a ceremonial wreath arrival, family night dinner party, pool side cookout, motorcycle thrill show by the Philadelphia Police Dept. Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey

Wildwood Crest Trunk-or-Treat for Halloween

The Wildwood Crest Recreation Department will host the annual Halloween Trunk-or-Treat family event at 6 p.m. The event consists of parents/adults bringing their Halloween-decorated vehicles to the Wildwood Crest Pier parking lot at Heather Road and Ocean Avenue, where they will distribute candy from the trunks of their vehicles to children outfitted for Halloween. Partners in Preservation Holiday Tour

Partners In Preservation will host the fifth annual Holiday Tour of Bs, Churches and the George. F. Boyer Museum in Wildwood. This is a great way to start the holiday season. Each location is different and even if you have visited before, you may find something new that has been addedperhaps at the museum where there is always something new. Sit down and go through the many scrapbooks on entertainers, boardwalk history, parks, even fires on the island. Maybe you will find your house or a family member. Just a half of a block from the museum is Holly Beach B This English style B has a beautiful model train and village to delight all ages. First Baptist Church, one of Wildwoods oldest churches, was started as a Carousel and features beautiful woodwork and windows. New on the tour this year is Sea Gypsy B, a restored Victorian for a romantic getaway or the whole family. They have rooms, suites and apartments. St. Simeon's Church started at Pacific and Maple Avenues exhibits beautiful stained glass windows which were moved to their new location when it was built at 2500 Central Ave. This church has the oldest pipe organ in the county. Avair House and Tea Room where the old meets the new. Partners In Preservation with East Lynne Theatre hosts a Victorian Tales and Tea on their wrap around porch every summer. Candlelight Inn, another restored Victorian with many original furniture pieces, but with all the modern conveniences. Summer Nites has a new twist. Here you go back to the 50s dcor right down to their diner-like kitchen. See Elvis and Marilyn Monroe rooms, plus many more. Start your tour at any site. A wrist band will be provided for a $10.00 donation collected at the first stop and is good for all places. Children 12 and under are free. 'Pinch the GrYnch' Boardwalk 5K Run

This holiday boardwalk 5K run and 1 mile walk is fun for all ages! Event starts at 10 a.m. - rain or shine - with registration at 9 a.m. inside the Wildwoods Convention Center.
